Not good. I needed to think. But, because of Allys screaming, and the fact that I blamed myself for Alexs capture, didnt help.
WE HAVE TO GO SAVE HIM!!!!!!!! Ally cried.
I know sweetie but they mightve moved him. We dont know where he is. Alanna tried to comfort her.
No hes in the same place. I said quietly. With my super dooper hearing, I could hear peoples individual heartbeats. If I didnt want super hearing, I could turn it off. But I had been listening and I was able to pick up Alexs specific heart rate even from here. I stood up, my wings stretched out. I have an idea.
Alex woke up. He tried to move, but found he couldnt. Why? His entire body except for his head and neck, was tied in a cocoon of rope. This is torture he thought. He couldnt move. At all. It was enough to drive a man crazy, and Alex was only a boy. After an hour or so he began to scream. He couldnt take it anymore! He needed to move! He continued to scream in agonizing torture. It was too much for him. He even went so far to think If I move my neck in a certain position, I can break it and be free of this pain! He screamed so loud it hurt. Screaming added so much to the pain, he screamed some more. Yes, if no one came and untied him within the hour, he could break his neck and be free. In, the meantime, he screamed some more. He had expected a stretching machine but this was far worse.
But Sky how are we gonna get in there discreetly? Grace asked.
We dont. I said
So we throw the lay low plan out the window? Alanna asked.
Yeah. And while it flies out the window, we fly in.
So, Greg began, We are going to fly through a window that we might not be able to break, and if we do, risk getting killed by the glass or killing Alex. And then if we survive that we go in, surrounded by dozens of FlyBoys and guards, and the police, to save Alex on a total over all suicidal mission?
That pretty much sums it up. I said.
Greg grinned. Lets do it.
Alright. This was it. Alex moved his neck in many different positions, and was about to do the one he knew would kill him, CRASH! The window broke and there were his friends.
We flew in just in time to stop Alex from breaking his neck. Alarms sounded. We had maybe a minute before the guards came. I signaled for Greg to cut the ropes and guards burst in. Surround them! I yelled. The guards were surprised to see us surround Alex and Greg, not them.
Gotcha! Greg exclaimed as the ropes came undone. Alexs wings were dirty and battered, just like the rest of him. I picked up some shards of glass, gripping them so hard my hand bled, and threw the shards at the guards. When they raised their arms to protect their faces, we flew out of there. We landed about 103 miles away, and , once Alanna was done healing us, had one big group hug. I didnt want to go back to our task. I just wanted to be a family, like before. Too bad I thought. I fell asleep knowing I could at least dream about it. Alanna slept next to me and, when she shivered in the night, I wrapped my wings around her to keep her warm. When I woke up in the morning, I stretched my wings, thus waking Alanna. Sorry, I murmured. She yawned. Its alright. She said. She then lay down in my lap. Yeah. Just a place to settle down, once our task was done.
