WindRider chapter9 by ~ComicArt96:iconComicArt96:

“Alright. Just one last disk. Any ideas on where it is?” I asked. No one knew.
“Uh why not use your ear piece?” Grace suggested.
“He can contact me. Not me contacting him. Oh wait.” The earpiece buzzed.
“Come to New York. Now”
Back in Ted’s home. “We have all the disks.” He told us.
“So….now what? What does this mean for the flock?” I demanded.
“I have signed you up for school in L.A.”
I had no problem with school. We had actually talked about going to a school before. “So let me get this straight. If I want to go out with Alanna in school, I have to fake falling in love with her in public?” Ted nodded. “One more thing,” I said, “Our birthday’s are tomorrow. Alanna and I will be eighteen. So are you sending us to college?”
Ted shook his head. “According to your fake Birth records, you and Alanna are 16. The rest of you are your real ages. Since there are two of you in every age-group, you will have every class with a member of your flock. You will always sit next to each other, do projects together and so on.”
The next day
We had no clue when our birthdays are. So we all picked the same date to celebrate our birthday. Alanna and I were 18, Grace and Greg were 15, and Alex and Ally turned eleven.
First day of school
Alanna and I had every class together, which gave me the perfect excuse to ‘ask her out.’ In the middle of the day, I approached her locker. Now in school when a boy approaches a girl or vis-versa, the entire grade watches. “Hi,” I said to Alanna in a lame tone. “Hey,” she said. “Do you wanna maybe, go out tonight? W-with me?” I made sure to stutter as if I were nervous. “Sure,” She said. By the period, the entire school knew we were in love. Guys with no girl friends kept coming to me asking how I scored with a girl I’d met only 3 or 4 hours ago. I shrugged. When I approached Alanna’s locker, I asked, “What do we have now?” “Science.” She replied. Science was fun. We were assigned a project to do together. Then, it was lunch. We were allowed of campus for up to an hour and a half. Alanna and I drove to a Subway and had lunch there. “So,” I said, “Do you like school?”
“It’s alright. Being with you makes it a lot better. I feel safer, less nervous, more sure of myself, when you’re around. Not to mention I’m head over heels in love with you. So how do you like it?”
“Basically what you just said sums it up.” I said and kissed her. We spent the remainder of our time in a tree at the park, talking and even kissing a bit.  Back at school, in between periods, on my way to see Alanna at her locker, I was approached by Becky, the girl in our grade who almost every guy wanted. She flirted with people and hit on people, sometimes trying to mess up their relationships. When she came up to me, I could see Alanna, almost laughing, knowing that instead of flirting back, I would embarrass her in public. Now she was going out with like 5 guys, and they had no clue the other was dating the same girl. “Hey,” she said. “Um hi…” I said.
“Do you wanna go out tonight?” She asked, wanting me to take the bait.
“Well, I usually don’t go out with hags…” I said.
“Exactly.  So dump the Alanna hag and go out with me.”
“Um how about no? Alanna is an angel. You on the other hand, are a self centered hag. You mess up peoples relationships just so people will want you. Well hag, I don’t want you.”
She stomped away angrily. Alanna came up to me, cracking up. “Did you see the look on her face?” she exclaimed. “I don’t think anyone has ever called her a hag before!”
“Well,” I said, “No one has ever called you an angel before. You even got the wings to go with it.”
She laughed and kissed me.
We were on our way to our next class, when I saw, Moe, the big stupid bully, picking on Winston, one of the computer geeks. “Hey!” I yelled out. “Keep away from him!” I said firmly. Moe turned his attention on me. “Why?! Is he your boyfriend?”
“Is that your way of asking if I’m single, cause A. You’re not my type, B. I’m with this lovely young lady,” I said pointing to Alanna. Everyone was laughing at Moe. He walked off yelling, “I’LL GET YOU!”
Great. First day of school and I already have an enemy. Oh Joy!
Ted got us a home better than our last. After school we all slumped on the couch. “How was everyone’s day?”
Apparently even here we were outcasts.

School day: 2
We got to school and unpacked our backpacks. Alanna and I were the only ones in our grades hallway. “So,” Alanna began, “Looking forward to getting beat up by Moe?”
“Puh-lease,” I said in as sarcastic tone. “We’ve fought dozens of Flyboys who had guns. I don’t think one overweight idiot will be much of a problem. I hope.”
“And you’ll have me to back you up.”
“Exactly.
But throughout the day, he never came. At lunch, Alanna and I picked up the rest of the flock and went to lunch. Anyway, it was in the middle of Trigonometry when I started to get one of my headaches. “Can I go to the infirmary?” I asked. “I have a headache.”
“Alright.” Mister Hugo said.
As I left, I heard Alanna ask if she could go to the restroom. Outside, I knelt down on the forest. No one would be there because students were only allowed in the forest on weekends. It hurt. The thing with my headaches was, each time, it hurt more than the last. My head was exploding. “Sky!” Alanna knelt next to me. “Damn it…hurts…so bad…” I breathed trying not to scream. In about 15 minutes, it had passed. She walked back to class and I followed. Anyway, at home we all watched Across the Universe and fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up. Alanna was sound asleep next to me. I shut off the alarms and woke everybody up.
When Alanna and I were walking with Alex, Ally, Greg and Grace back to their class, we smelled smoke. The fire alarms went off. We had had fire drills and knew what to do. Waiting at a safe distance with the rest of the flock and most of the school, my super hearing picked up something our teacher was saying. “……8 students trapped in there!”
“Guys,” I told the flock, “We got eight students trapped in there. Only we can help them. It might be to late by the time the firemen get here.”
“But they’ll recognize us!” Greg cried out.
“No they won’t.” Right before the fire, 7 students were acting like burglars and put ski masks on to scare the students. The teacher who confiscated them had set them on the ground. I took six of the seven and passed them out. “Alright,” I said as I put my mask on. “Ready to play super hero?”
