chapter one


Pain.
Tests.
Needles.
But mostly pain. For fourteen years. Fourteen years of pain along with my friends. They suffered as much as I. And my two of my friends were only seven years old when we escaped.

See, we have erm, wings. Yeah. 2% avian 98% human. That is what they did to us. That would be me,Sky and I can hear the slightest movement even a heartbeat, and my friends Alanna, who is 17 like me and can heal some wounds, Greg, a thirteen year old who is a master thief, Aly, a ten year old who can (this is like, scary) solve any mathematical or logical problem. In seconds. No scratch work. Like I said, scary. And there's Alex, a 10 year old who is awesome with technology,and Grace, who remembers everything she reads, sees, or hears.

So yeah. When Alana and I were 14, the six of us escaped from the hellhole. We found a nice mountain where no one ever goes to, and built a home. Like, mansion size. Around the house is plenty of room to run, or in our case, fly around.

So yeah now we have lived here for three years now. We eat all this awesome stuff and we have no problem paying for food or supplies. Greg is like the best pickpocket. Really. It's scary.

So enough about our life style, lets get  to today. It's 10:00 in the morning. I woke up, got dressed and waked the others. Grace,as always, made the food. Mmmm. Food. Cooked by Grace. yum. No seriously she is like the best cook ever. After stuffing ourselves with 4 pancakes, 5 cinnamon rolls, and 3 waffles, we went outside to stretch our wings. (Bird kids eat a lot.) We flew around for a bit then went back inside and all played video games. BOOM! Earthquake? On a mountain? Yeah, no.  I looked outside and saw Flyboys. These robots looked like Erasers(the guards/henchmen of the school who morphed from human to winged dog) See Itex had recently killed all of it's  mutants except for  A girl called Maximum and her gang. They saved the world and stuff. But now flyboys were looking for
us? They should be focusing on finding max and her flock. Not my flock. (what else do you call a group of bird kids?) I say my flock cause I'm sorta the leader. Alanna saw them and exclaimed "Flyboys!"
Aly, still being an imaginitive little kid said "You mean those new toys? They look dumb."
"No," explained Grace, "as in the robots who try to kill us all the time."
Aly's eyes became dinner plates. Greg was quiet as usual. He didn't say anything unless something needs to be said.

The Flyboys kicked the door open and came in. "C'mon guys!" I shouted, "We've dealt with them before so let's give 'em a taste of Wind Riders!" (Explanation: Aly and Alex wanted to call our flock by a name so we would be more of a super hero group. It was the press who came up with it and the name stuck.)
To my dismay, there was about thirty Flyboys, six of us.
Yeah. The wings are fun but it comes with a side order of trouble
